South
Carolina Motorcycle Helmet Law
In South Carolina, all motorcycle
operators and passengers under 21 must wear a helmet approved by the Department
of Highways and Public Transportation. The helmet must be equipped with either a
neck or chin strap, and it must be 'reflectorized' on both sides.
The Department is authorized to adopt
and amend regulations covering helmet types and specifications and to establish
and maintain a list of approved helmets. If you're subject to the helmet law,
it's best to check with the Department on current regulations before riding on a
motorcycle in South Carolina.
